In today’s economy it can be challenging to find enough money to take care of life’s necessities. For many people, this may mean foregoing simple vehicle repairs. If a fender or door gets damaged and your vehicle is still operational, it seems quite rational to put off the repair until a later date.
At Bullock’s Auto Body, we understand the economic demands of today’s local and global landscape. And while we are not in a position to turn around the global economy, we can help to put it in perspective.
Even if you don’t believe you are in a position today to pay for repairs to your vehicle, we advise that you come in and get a free written estimate to any damage as soon as possible. This will allow you to do a couple of things. First, you will be in a position to make an informed decision regarding when and/or whether to proceed with any repairs. Second, we may be able to advise if you are in a position to make an insurance claim on the damage. It is always worth checking with your insurance company to determine if a claim is possible; whether making a claim in your particular circumstance will change your insurance premiums and/or whether such a claim is subject to a deductible.
If you make an insurance claim, you typically have a year in which to plan your vehicle repairs on that claim. This gives many people enough time to budget for a deductible if necessary. If you want to pay for vehicle repairs on your own, Bullock’s will honour the original estimate pricing up to 6 months. Any fluctuations in price after that are usually nominal.
The longer term consideration to not repairing vehicle damage is the dramatic decrease in value of one of today’s most expensive assets. Both in terms of resale value and asset value, even small amounts of damage make a large impact on your investment. Upon viewing a second hand vehicle, most people who see exterior damage will either consciously, or unconsciously think, “what else has not been maintained on the vehicle,” and be less willing to pay what you may believe your vehicle is worth. Also, if the damage has resulted in a compromise to the structural integrity, refinish of your vehicle’s surface or a misalignment of components, waiting for repairs may cause further, perhaps considerable, damages.
The written estimate is free. Why not come in and let us assess the damages of your vehicle with you in order that you may make the best possible decision for you and your investment.
