Even those of us in the trade feel unnerved when our vehicle impacts with another vehicle or object. It’s natural to have to take a moment (sometimes more) to re-calibrate or regain one’s equilibrium after a traumatic event, no matter how trivial it may seem.
Here are a few guidelines that can help you get through the process from accident to repair completion and make sure you don’t miss any crucial details that will see your vehicle put back on the road as quickly and painlessly as possible:
IN CASE OF ACCIDENT
If there are injuries, call 911
If you have a cell phone or camera, take photos of the accident site to ensure accuracy if you have to report to insurance co/police
If your vehicle is drivable, move it out of the way of traffic
Record the date and time of accident
If another party is involved, exchange personal/insurance/vehicle registration info including name, address, telephone number(s), license plate, insurance co; take photos of the other person’s documents if possible to speed up the process
Collect names and contact info for any witnesses
If your vehicle is not drivable, call a tow truck TNT Towing: 403-327-4279 LA Towing: 403-327-3855
You can have your vehicle brought to Bullock’s Auto Body for no additional charge – we will store your vehicle during the insurance assessment process.
Call your insurance company to inform them of the accident
Come to Bullock’s Auto Body for a free estimate – if your estimate amount is greater than $2000 you will have to file a police report and obtain a damage sticker before work can begin on your vehicle
Currently, Alberta Legislation states that it is the vehicle owner’s choice where to have a vehicle estimated and repaired. Bullock’s Auto Body works with all insurance companies in the province as well as insurance companies from other provinces and the United States and can build estimates to the specifications of any insurance company.
Our estimate process typically takes between 10 – 20 minutes depending on the extent of damage. During the estimate process we ask that you fill in a contact information sheet which includes your name, address, contact information, insurance company information. We also ask for a copy of your vehicle registration to ensure we have the correct and detailed information for your vehicle in the event we will need to order parts, determine paint codes, etc. We take detailed photos of your vehicle and the vehicle damage. Insurance companies require very specific photos of your vehicle in order to determine and keep a record of your claim. In many cases, we will provide a print out of your estimate at the end of your appointment. In some cases, we may have to wait to verify parts availability and pricing before we can complete your estimate. If this is the case, we are able to email a copy of your estimate to you. If the repair is going through you or a 3rd party insurance company, we are able to upload all photos and the detailed estimate to any insurance company for their approval. The approval process can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few days. Once the estimate is approved by the insurance company, we can order parts if necessary and book your vehicle in for repairs.
Bullock’s Auto Body offers a limited lifetime warranty on all collision repairs. Our confidence in offering such a warranty stems from working with one of the finest teams of technicians in the industry and striving to use the best products available in today’s market.
